Zeev Sternhell says Israel is a Nazi state: He is absolutely correct

by Khalid Amayreh
https://english.palinfo.com/articles/2018/2/25/zeev-sternhell-says-isr ael-is-a-nazi-state-he-is-absolutely-correct

Zeev Sternhell is a Polish-born Israeli historian, political scientist, commentator on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and writer. He is one of the world's leading experts on fascism. Sternhell headed the Department of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Last week, he convincingly argued in an article published in Le Monde that Israel today resembled to a large extent the early years of Nazi Germany.

The mostly jingoistic Israeli media ganged up on the man, accusing him of crossing all red lines. One Ynet commentator called Sternhell “an auto anti-Semite”. Others called him a self-hating Jew.

In his article, Sternhell argued that non-Jews in Israel, especially Arabs, feel they are living under a monster, given the racist laws continually promulgated in order to promote and enforce “the Jewishness” of Israel and also make non-Jews, especially Arabs, feel they are unwanted.

Israel’s Arab citizens constitute more than 20% of Israel’s population, and Israeli leaders, such as the current Minister of Defense, Avigdor Lieberman, have repeatedly called for expelling them to a would- be Palestinian state. Arabs in Israel and the occupied territories are not immigrants. They are the original inhabitants of the country. Hence comparing them with Arab expatriates living in Europe, who are recent immigrants, is outrageous to say the very least.

Critics of Sternhell’s treatise argued that it was grossly unfair to compare Israel with Nazi Germany. They regurgitated the usual hasbara items invoked by Zionist circles to deceive ordinary people who probably have no time to dig further for the truth. They pointed out that Israel’s Palestinians were full (not equal) Israeli citizens, that Arab students were studying at Israeli universities by the thousands and that many Arab doctors were working at Israeli hospitals. In short, the usual arguments intended to give a rosy outlook and hide the hard core-shell of Israeli racism and fascism. Interestingly, Sternhell critics carefully avoided any mention or allusion to some 5.5 million Palestinians languishing under a harsh military occupation in the West Bank and a draconian siege in the Gaza Strip, as if these thoroughly tormented people were a legitimate target for racism, occupation, repression and constant persecution.

To be sure, no one accuses Israel of sending Palestinians to concentration camps, although some rabbis like the rabbi of Safad had called for sending the Arabs to the ovens see my article: the Rabbi of the Devil,https://occupiedpalestine.wordpress.com/2011/01/22/the-rabbis-of -the-devil/

However, Nazi Germany was about much more than just concentration camps, which appeared at the final stages of the Third Reich.

Indeed, Auschwitz, Mauthauzen Bergen Belsen, Dachau and Treblinka were the ultimate outcome of Nazism, not its modus operandi.

Nazism’s core modus operandi was the lethal, insidious and venomous racism against Jews and others which eventually produced the death camps.

Now, let us ask ourselves the following question: Doesn’t Israel has such a modus operandi?

I don’t write about the brutal treatment meted out to the Palestinians by Israel from a distant country so that I could be accused of being misinformed. I actually live this unrelenting agony 24 hours a day. I am in the heart of the fray. This is why I can accuse Israel of using the dishonest lawyer’s tactics to obfuscate the truth and create an alternative virtual truth based on lies and fabrications.

It is true that Israel allows Arab students to study at its universities and Arab doctors to serve at its hospitals. But it is also true that Israel has a systematic and institutionalized policy of insidious discrimination against Arabs in Israel, in addition to the manifestly brutal repression meted out to the Palestinians in the occupied territories. Needless to say, narrowing the Arab’s horizons for the purpose of prompting to immigrate has always been and continues to be Israel’s de facto policy toward the Palestinians.

Israel routinely demolishes Arab homes for a variety of reasons that are mostly disingenuous.

In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation army routinely (nearly on a daily basis) deploys bulldozers throughout the West Bank to demolish the family homes of Palestinians convicted of killing Israeli occupation soldiers or paramilitary Jewish settlers. Have you ever heard of Israel demolishing the home of a Jewish terrorist even if he committed the most hideous crime under the sun!

In Jerusalem, Israel demolished thousands of Arab homes under the pretext that these houses had been built without a valid building license. Just ask an East Jerusalemite and him or she would at yell you that obtaining a building license for Arabs is an extremely hard task, even next to impossible.

On 25 February 1994, Baruch Goldstein, a Jewish doctor who had emigrated from New York, Murdered 29 innocent Palestinian worshipers and seriously injured many others. His home was never demolished and his family continued until today to receive financial benefits from the Israeli state!

A few months ago, a group of Jewish hooligans, including adults, ganged up on an African refugee in Petah Tikva, beating him to death! This week, the Israeli media reported that the court reached a plea bargain with the defendants which would enable them to serve only a short period in jail.

Now, wouldn’t Jewish circles vociferously protest, and rightly so, if a court anywhere in the world treated the murderer of a Jew similarly leniently?

In fact, I myself continue to have unresolved grievances against Israel. On 27 Feb., 1953 (4 years before I was born), Israeli troops murdered my three paternal uncles: Hussein, Mahmoud and Yousuf. They were totally innocent shepherds who harmed no one. Until today, I have not received an acknowledgment of responsibility from Israel, a country that continues to berate Poland for restitution and indemnification for lost Jewish property going back to WWII.

You see, all these stories and events have one thing in common. It is the racist Zionist Jewish view of non-Jews as goys, children of a lesser God, and untermenschen! Was not this the defining feature of Nazism? Isn’t this the defining feature of Israel?

It is this affronting and highly revolting racism that Zeev Sternhell had in mind when he compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

Finally, I would like to ask the guardians of the Golem: what is so un-Nazi about occupying a country and tormenting, savaging and brutalizing its people for over 50 years in order to compel them to immigrate? Or does Israel think that its 50-year occupation of more than 5 million Palestinians is an act of charity rather than an act of rape?

Heads Up Comrades !

N.B. This kind of modern DEVIOUS “construct" is designed to inflict the most damaging harm on Labour (when it works)..

Not so long ago (but before "Doping Scandals" and IOC corruption issues) ... Olympic Sport then a mandatory AMATEUR 'game' was riven by widespread accusations of "sham-amateurism" - (Players accused/investigated for receiving improper benefits ..)

Where there is a ruthless desire (of generally professional coaches and agencies) to win at all costs we must be prepared to expect every kind of depravity and "dirty tricks"..

(e.g. Attempts to cripple rivals through physical assault.. Current “spiking” opponents food/drinks with traces of banned substances: the discrediting of the Russian Olympic Team - Are SO EASY to set up....)

In our case “engineering” attacks on our officers “political integrity” must be regarded as "standard right-wing operating procedure"..

Would it be beyond the imagination of Labour's NEC and Conference to simply prohibit (in our Rules) all forms of collaboration and participation in common law breach of public care, unearned income and benefits obtained during the exercise of political office and other smearing “that may bring the party into disrepute” ?

Netanyahu quoted Hitler and threatens with atom bombs
Thursday, 20. September 2018 , by Freeman at 12:05
http://alles-schallundrauch.blogspot.com/2018/09/netanjahu-zitiert-hit ler-und-droht-mit.html

The head of the Zionist construct, Benjamin Netanyahu, held at the beginning of September for a speech at the nuclear bomb factory at Dimona, the site and Symbol of the secret Israeli nuclear weapons capacity, and warned Iran and other regional "rivals" in front of it to attack Israel.

The bombs are right under the nuclear sign?

Initially, Israel has this nuclear bomb factory
as the only textile factory described

He said:

"The weak crumble, to be slaughtered, and erased from history, while the Strong, for good or bad, to survive. The Strong are respected and covenants are made with the Strong, and at the end of peace with the Strong.

But our enemies know very well, what can Israel do. You are familiar with our policy. Whoever is trying to get us to hurt, we will hurt you."

The Iranian foreign Minister Javad Zarif said: "Iran, a country without nuclear weapons, the threat of nuclear destruction by a war driver, standing next to a nuclear weapons factory. Beyond shamelessly in the bile."

Netanyahu's comments were mocked on Twitter as a fascist. Some cited Adolf Hitler's speech in Munich from the 13. April, 1923, at a time when he established his followers:

"The whole of nature is a mighty struggle between strength and weakness, an eternal victory of the Strong over the Weak."

Netanyahu spoke on the occasion of the ceremony, the a-bomb factory to rename in Dimona, in the Shimon Peres Nuclear Research Center. Peres the "father" of the Israeli nuclear bomb program was.

He used the same words as Hitler, the Strong prevails over the Weak and survive. Exactly, because Israel is the one with nuclear bombs armed and strong Goliath, which threatens Iran without this weapon.

It is not to say, who is quoted in Hitler, a Nazi and anti-Semite???

Here, I would like to remind you that Netanyahu has in 2015, also said that Hitler wanted the Jews to expel and destroy.

That Zionism and Nazism have many of the points in the same ideological world view is abundantly proved, especially as it pertains to racism, to the right of the Stronger on the international law and the claim of a master race.

You've ever noticed, how all the right-wing parties and groups in Europe, very friendly relations to Israel and the Zionist Entity vehemently support?

As the Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the right-wing populist Partij voor de freedom, a close personal friend of Netanyahu and a big supporter of Israel, and recently the Knesset adopted new Israeli race laws in the sky praised.

He wrote on Twitter: "Fantastic new Israeli law. An example for all of us. Our own nation-state, our indigenous culture, let us, our language and flag in define, we define who and what we are and do it legally dominant. It will help us to prevent us from Islam."

Or what Prime Minister Orban, who is also a good friend of Netanyahu's and a welcome guest in Israel is with Hungary? Orban supported the Israeli policy for years, and also the controversial settlement policy, and he shares the negative attitude of Netanyahu's against Muslims and Arabs.

Orban and Netanyahu also use the "own language of refugees". Orban called "Muslim invaders", while Netanyahu, when it comes to the immigration of immigrants from Sudan and Eritrea, of the "infiltrators".

Israel takes, such as Hungary no Syrian refugees. The very much countries such as Jordan and Lebanon, poorer neighbor have included hundreds of thousands.

Also, the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, the US media as a "right-outside Chancellor" was described and an Anti-immigration program, a friend of Netanyahu's and visited in June, Israel.

The fact is the Right in Europe, "love" Netanyahu and Israel.

Obviously, there is no contradiction, because Israel is a racist apartheid state!

But back to Netanyahu's threat to destroy the neighboring countries with nuclear bombs.

It is the height of insolence is, if Netanyahu in the Israeli nuclear bomb factory is a speech and in the neighbouring countries threatened with complete extinction.

Iran's Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif outside the Israeli nuclear program, commented as follows:

"As the world marks the International day against nuclear tests, we should remember that only nuclear bombs in our Region to Israel and the United States; the former a common Aggressor, and the latter is the only user of nuclear weapons. Let us remember that Iran has, since 1974, a nuclear-weapon-free-Zone calls."

On Thursday, Iranian state media reported that Tehran had asked the United Nations to condemn the Israeli threats against Tehran, and to put Israel's nuclear program under his supervision.

"The members of the United Nations, should these threats not ignore and take measures to all Israeli nuclear weapons to eliminate", was quoted by the Fars news Agency the Iranian Ambassador to the UN, Gholamali Khoshrou, in the letters to the UN Secretary-General and the security Council.

Khoshru has called on the United Nations to force Israel to the nuclear non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) to accede to and to bring its nuclear program under the supervision of the International atomic energy Agency, a UN nuclear guardian.

It is not typical Western double standards that Israel has been around since the 1960's nukes, not the NPT Treaty, acceded to, no UN inspections of nuclear facilities to permit and Netanyahu then walks and, of all things, from the nuclear bomb factory at Dimona (like Demona) with nuclear bombs threatening?

Iran but it is accused for over 20 years, incorrectly and with the sharpest sanctions, although it has no nuclear bombs and also don't want to, the NPT Treaty, has long joined the UN inspections regime and threatens no-one.

Tehran is also in line with the Obama-negotiated nuclear agreement, the Trump at the Urging of his close friend Netanyahu in the air has torn.

The IAEA in Vienna has only confirmed a few weeks ago, Iran has remained within the major restrictions on its nuclear activities, which were imposed by an agreement with the major powers in 2015.

In its second quarterly report since President Donald Trump announced in may that the United States terminate the agreement and sanctions are re-impose, said the International atomic energy Agency that Iran had kept the uranium enrichment, enriched uranium stock and other goods within the limits.

But Netanyahu may quote without a shred of criticism to trigger Hitler and atomic bombs threaten!!!

Netanyahu’s Brand of Tolerance for Anti-Semitism Goes Back 120 Years
January 31, 2019 • 14 Comments

The Israeli prime minister’s ease with neo-Nazism and revisionist Holocaust history are not as surprising as they might seem, writes Daniel Lazare.
https://consortiumnews.com/2019/01/31/netanyahus-brand-of-tolerance-fo r-anti-semitism-goes-back-120-years/

By Daniel Lazare
Special to Consortium News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a soft spot for rightwing authoritarians. This is no surprise since Netanyahu is a rightwing authoritarian himself, one who sees Israel as an old-fashioned ethno-state in which Jewish national aspirations are the only ones that count – as his support for last year’s “Nation-State Law” makes clear.

But what may come as a surprise is that he also has a soft spot for rightwing authoritarians with a pronounced anti-Semitic streak. Last July, he welcomed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Israel even though Urban has led a

campaign to rehabilitate Miklos Horthy, the pro-Axis dictator who sent hundreds of thousands of Jews to death camps and bragged, “I have been an anti-Semite throughout my life.” Two months later, he welcomed Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who once compared himself to Hitler, saying, “There are three million drug addicts [in the Philippines]. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”

He issued a joint statement with Polish Premier Mateusz Morawiecki lauding Poland’s wartime efforts to alert the world to the Nazi death camps, a statement that Israel’s own Yad Vashem Holocaust museum later repudiated on the grounds that it “contains highly problematic wording that contradicts existing and accepted historical knowledge in this field.” His government has also supplied weapons to the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion fighting pro-Russian separatists in the eastern Ukraine.

So what’s the explanation? If Netanyahu is a hawk’s hawk when it comes to enemies of the Jewish state, then doesn’t it follow that he should be no less militant when it comes to enemies of the Jews?

The answer is, no, it doesn’t, for the simple reason that Zionism’s attitude toward anti-Semitism is more ambiguous than people realize. Theodore Herzl, the Viennese journalist who founded modern Zionism, made this clear in the 1890s. Rather than combatting anti-Semitism, he argued that Jews should accept it as an ineradicable fact of life. Instead of opposing it, they should make use of it as a lever with which to pry their co-religionists loose from western society so that they would move to Palestine. As he put it in “The Jewish State,” the 1896 manifesto that put modern Zionism on the map:

“Great exertions will hardly be necessary to spur on the [emigration] movement. Anti-Semites provide the requisite impetus. They need only do what they did before, and then they will create a desire to emigrate where it did not previously exist, and strengthen it where it existed before.”

Herzl’s goal was twofold: to provide Jews with a homeland and to win over non-Jews by removing an irritant from their midst. Jews, he wrote, “continue to produce an abundance of mediocre intellects who find no outlet, and this endangers our social position as much as it does our increasing wealth. Educated Jews without means are now rapidly becoming Socialists.” The more radical they become, the more Christian society would close ranks against them. The solution was to provide them with a homeland of their own so they would cease subverting someone else’s.

“They will pray for me in the synagogues, and in the churches as well,” Herzl confided to his diary. Not only would Jews liberate themselves, but they would be liberating Christians too, “liberating them from us.”

Zionism’s DNA

Modern observers might dismiss such ideas as ancient history since they date to more than 120 years ago. But they have become part of Zionism’s DNA. Instead of battling anti-Semites, the movement has repeatedly followed Herzl’s advice by emulating them and adopting their techniques for their own purposes.

In the 1920s, Jews were thus shocked when Zionist settlers organized a movement to drive out Arab workers in Palestine. The reason is that it was all too similar to anti-Semitic nationalists in Poland who were seeking to drive out Polish Jews. An immigrant socialist complained in the Jewish Daily Forward, according to the historian Yaacov N. Goldstein, that the “conquest of labor” campaign“sends shudders through the Jewish workers in the Diaspora countries because the gentiles could try out this principle against the Jewish workers….” Said another: “How do we react when the reactionary chauvinists in Poland fight for their ‘conquest of labor,’ meaning prevention of Jews working in Polish industrial and commercial enterprises? How do we respond to the ‘conquest of labor’ of the Romanians?”

In the 1930s, a growing rightwing Zionist movement latched onto Benito Mussolini for much the same reason – because he wished to purify Italy just as they wished to purify Palestine. With Mussolini’s permission, a rightwing Zionist leader named Vladimir “Ze’ev” Jabotinsky opened a training school in Civitavecchia, some 40 miles west of Rome. According to the Marxist historian Lenni Brenner, this is how an Italian Zionist newspaper described the opening ceremonies:

“The order – ‘Attention!’ A triple chant ordered by the squad’s commanding officer – ‘Viva L’Italia! Viva Il Re! Viva Il Duce!’ resounded, followed by the benediction which rabbi Aldo Lattes invoked in Italian and Hebrew for God, the king, and Il Duce…. ‘Giovinezza’ [the Fascist Party anthem] was sung with much enthusiasm….”

Mussolini praised Jabotinsky as a good fascist in 1935 while Abba Ahimeir, a leader of the Palestinian branch of Jabotinsky’s “Revisionist” movement, wrote a regular newspaper column entitled “Diary of a Fascist.” Ahimeir’s editor was Benzion Netanyahu, father of the current prime minister, who would later become Jabotinsky’s personal assistant. In Poland, the leader of the Revisionists was a young man named Mieczslaw Biegun, better known by the Hebrew name Menachem Begin, who would serve as Israeli prime minister from 1977 to 1983.

When Begin embarked on a U.S. speaking tour in 1948, Albert Einstein, Hannah Arendt, Sidney Hook, and some two dozen other Jewish intellectuals sent a letter to the The New York Times denouncing his movement as “akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties,” one that “preache[s] an admixture of ultra-nationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority.”

Given this rich history of fascism, it’s no surprise 70 years later that Netanyahu would enjoy hobnobbing with a new generation of rightwing strong men (including new Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro) or that he would look the other way when it comes to the anti-Semitism of the Polish government, which last year made it a crime to say that Poles were complicit in the Holocaust, or of Orban’s campaign against international financier George Soros. Indeed, it’s no surprise that Netanyahu’s 26-year-old son Yair would join in the fun by posting an anti-Semitic cartoon on Facebook showing George Soros directing a conspiracy against his father.

“Is this what the kid hears at home?” wondered former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who was also targeted by the cartoon. But not everyone was displeased. “Welcome to the club, Yair – absolutely amazing, wow, just wow,” tweeted Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

Role Model for Xenophobes

What’s a little anti-Semitism among friends? Netanyahu’s devotion to Jewish ethnic purity has meanwhile turned him into a role model for xenophobes the world over. So has his hostility to refugees. Last March, he declared that illegal African migrants are “much worse” than terrorists, adding: “How could we assure a Jewish and democratic state with 50,000 and then 100,000 and 150,000 migrants a year? After a million, 1.5 million, one could close up shop. But we have not closed down. We built a fence and at the same time, with concern for security needs, we are making a major investment in infrastructures.” This is the same fence that Donald Trump now points to as his model for his Mexican wall.

Thanks to such attitudes at the top, Israel has seen an upsurge of racial violence. In 2014, an Israeli stabbed a baby three times in the head, telling police: “They said that a black baby, blacks in general, are terrorists.” A few months later, a mob shot and beat to death an African refugee named Haltom Zarhum in the southern city of Beer Sheva. A year after that, two Israeli teenagers beat to death an African refugee named Babikir Ali Adham-Abdo in a suburb of Tel Aviv.

Netanyahu, of course, will reply that he was nowhere near the scene of the crime. But the more Zionism’s true colors come out, the more such atrocities are likely to occur.

It must be stressed that the problem with Jewish nationalism lies not with the first half of the term but the second. Nationalism in general suffers from a similar combination of chauvinism and separatism. Examples are rife. Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is a well-known anti-Semite who last summer inveighed against “Satanic Jews who have infected the whole world with poison and deceit.” His ideological predecessor, Marcus Garvey, whose back-to-Africa movement in the 1920s had curious parallels with Zionism, repeatedly provoked black leftists of the day by speaking out in favor of Jim Crow and meeting with a Ku Klux Klan leader named Edward Young Clarke in Atlanta.

“I regard the Klan, the Anglo-Saxon clubs and White American societies, as far as the Negro is concerned, as better friends of the race than all other groups of hypocritical whites put together,” he wrote. “I like honesty and fair play. You may call me a Klansman if you will, but, potentially, every white man is a Klansman as far as the Negro in competition with whites socially, economically and politically is concerned, and there is no use lying.”

Garvey’s dark side was forgotten in the 1960s when he emerged as a hero of the Black Power movement. Zionism’s dark side was similarly forgotten after the Six Day War in 1967 when it emerged as a favorite ally of the United States. Thereafter, anyone who tried to bring up the love affair with fascism was ostracized by neo-conservatives, many of them Jewish, who increasingly dominated intellectual discourse.

But with ethno-chauvinism now staging a powerful comeback, Zionism’s far-right past has returned to haunt it — and the rest of the world as well.
