Expenses whistleblower John Wick sorry for David Chaytor
by Lynn White, Daily Mirror 8/01/2011

EXPENSES whistleblower John Wick has “no regrets” about his part in exposing the scandal.
The former SAS major, who brokered the deal which saw more than a million claims by MPs leaked to the Daily Telegraph, said his actions had outed a “venal and corrupt” system.
He said: “I feel very sorry for Chaytor and his family. It is also very heart-rending for the status of the House and MPs generally. But I don’t have any hesitancy over what we did 18 months ago.
“Vindicated is too a strong word. I think it was very good that there was, from my perception, a venal and corrupt system in place and that has now been outed.
“Sad for any MP who finds himself having crossed the line but I think it is a damn good day for democracy.”
Former Labour MP Chris Mullin described Chaytor as “assiduous” but said MPs had only themselves to blame.

What about Heather Brookes? no one mentions her yet she was the first journalist to attempt to reveal MP's expenses. She had a long protacted legal fight to try to get the expenses disclosed. But before she could succeed, this ex sas man slipped the cd with the MP's expenses to the Telegraph.
Is this a case of the British intelligence sevices not wanting a free lance american journalist to take the glory?
The BBC did a drama documentary on this and it was only broadcast once.
Heather Brookes is a free lance journalist, born in liverpool but her family moved to the US when she was a child. She moved back to the UK a few years ago.
She has written a book 'your right to know' about the freedom of information act and how to use it. She said that the freedom of information act did not go far enough and has too many get out clauses. which i think, we would all agree with. However its better than nothing and T Blair said if he'd known the full consequences of the act, he wouldnt have let it go through parliament at all.

Blair had nothing to worry about then really.

The Barclay Brothers are a creepy pair aren't they?
Their wondrous 'investigative journalism' exposing MPs expenses in 2009 was:
1. Criminal, The hard drive with MPs expenses on was stolen from the heart of the House of Commons by or through a privatised former SAS officer John Wick who should be in jail.
2. Partial, The Tory and Labour right wing such as Tony Blair and David Cameron Malcolm Rifkind etc expenses were NOT exposed. A powerful tool in the run up to a general election. As ever it's what the London media DON'T tell you that's the crucial bit you need to know.
3. Entrapment, Because of Gordon Brown and the bankers' rip-off bailout of £750 billion, the 2008 MPs pay award had been blocked and MPs were told the rules would be relaxed on expenses instead. And they were.
4. Diversionary, The real criminals in 2008 were the City of London who stole £750 billion of public money through false accounting and blackmail - this story diverted all the nations attention onto MPs, ironically the only people in the country that can defend us from the evil greed of the City.
