KEITH'S FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

I had a very cordial conversation with Keith's brother, Rob, last evening. I am not clear about all the details and do not have his number so that I can ring him back to check. Here is what I remember of our conversation:

<snip>

Clearly I need to fill in further details about the funeral arrangements. I will post them on this thread as soon as I have clarified them. Noel

I have now heard from Keith's brother, Rob, that I had misunderstood what he said to me on the phone. Here, quoted verbatim, is his e-mail clarifying the situation.

Hi Noel.

Just seen your message into the 911 site and fear we are getting into Chinese whispers.

Can you please pass on:

The autopsy is not complete – but the Dundee Prof has what is needed and the body has been released. Test results and further analysis take longer.

The family’s view is that we have no grounds for suspicion and we look forward to the autopsy report which we hope will clarify what was going on over the last several months and that deteriorated sharply in early June. I outlined why I think talk about an incident in a van is misleading (there may have been such – but in which decade? His memory was all over the place. Moreover, if he could remember the incident, it clearly didn’t cause a head injury – memory loss is pretty well how they are defined, etc). I also said that I thought the hospital looked after him very well, and were demonstrably shocked and upset by his death. Finally, my remark about campaigning concerned any campaigning about Keith’s death – I am neither so naïve nor so presumptuous as to think that I could dissuade truthers from their mission with a throwaway line! Sorry if this wasn’t clear.

Hope messages with full funeral arrangement details will go out shortly. .

Best, Rob

testimony from Daphne Francis

I believe Keith means in Gaelic small woodland and there was no place that I remember Keith more at peace and contented than walking though trees. He loved to stand and contemplate the stillness of a loch or the brown haze of distant trees., long moments of deep peace. .

Yet fundamentally he was a man of huge elemental energy, whose entrance into our cottage with his bike was once likened by a chuckling friend to that of a tornado. He was a man of huge passion , both personal and political, and he carried many along with him – his life was like a multl-coloured tapestry with its own very dark and silvery thread woven tightly amongst the iridescent shimmering of many colours. So there were recurrent days when he wore a dark mantle round him , others when he was truly illuminated, mostly he was the solid double Taurean, shouldering many tasks with an almost superhuman drive and will. His sense of humour was irrepressible and with his boyish smile he could surely charm.

When he lived with my family, he travelled a lot by hitching and he told me that some of his drivers told him that listening to him talk had changed their lives. For in essence Keith was indeed very much a transformer, a visionary, whose breadth and depth of learning and analysis was I think pretty matchless. His writing often touched a poetic visionary vein. He has often defied ridicule to investigate what really goes on the murky world of terrorism of the male power-elites.

He belonged to many families, was open to all sorts of people, and driven ever onward by his passion for justice truth and a world safe for all. Of course there were many contradictions in his character, a man hugely strong but tremendously fragile, calm but turbulent, kind but at times carried away by a strong temper. But fundamentally Keith had a huge heart and though his life was often very troubled and sad, the legacy he leaves behind is testimony to the wonderful way he wove his personal trials into the wider fabric of the political struggles of our age.

He never did complete his life’s magnum opus but in a way the words of it were possibly irrelevant to the powerful message of the way he lived his life and the many writings he has left behind,. One of his earliest and most beautiful pamphlets was entitled “Which Way Home” - I believe the central quest of Keith’s life on earth - I trust that Keith with his single- pointed focus has at last found his way back home to the eternal present.

Where I am now raw with loss, I think I cannot live without Keith alive in my life but I - and so many others - live on for what he lived for. And underneath I know he can always be found in the embrace of nature in all her moods, his soft eyes beautiful brown eyes shining back out of a quiet Scottish river.

Goodbye to a brave, tireless seeker of the truth. Keith was highly regarded in the UK 9/11 Truth Movement, and will be sorely missed.

Instinctively, I tend to believe that he was the victim of foul play, as he himself said to one of his friends. If this was the case, it indicates that the 'Empire' thought of him as a real threat to their War Crimes and lies.
They should know, however, that making him a martyr just spurs on his friends to redouble their efforts towards his main objective, unifying believers of different faiths behind the quest for 9/11 and other Truths.
They may kill us, but others will take our place. The struggle continues.

Regarding Noel's forwarding of Keith's family's request for any donations to be channelled to their named charities, I for one have no intention of doing so. Whilst obviously sending my condolences to the family, they unfortunately strongly disagreed with Keith's 9/11 work. I believe Keith would have wanted us to work towards 9/11 Truth, and so I intend to donate (again!) to NYCCAN's appeal for funding to further their tremendously important campaign to get a new, proper inquiry with teeth into 9/11, by getting the demand put onto November's ballot in New York.
Here is a site from which any of you who wish to do as I intend to do, can donate in honour of Keith's life and campaigns:

http://www.911truth.org/article.php?story=20090628004305242

Please give generously; this is a tremendously important iniitiative.

YOUR TRIALS ARE OVER, KEITH. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

Dear all,

An inter-faith service of thanksgiving for Keith’s life, and sorrow at his passing, will be held at 11.30 am on Monday 13th July at The St Paul’s Centre, 14 New Row, Perth, Kinrosshire, PH1 5QA (known locally as ‘the blind centre’)

The family warmly invites all who knew him to join them for the ceremony and for refreshments afterwards.

Keith’s body will be buried at 2.00 at Strowan Woodland Cemetery, near Crieff, in a Buddhist ceremony. Again, we will welcome all who are able to join us – and so you should have no reservations about forwarding this message to anyone who knew and cared about Keith and his works.

Anyway, Keith was a great guy who must have surely passed into the ether and can still direct an energy back here. Reast in peace? - no he was far too insensed always for that and will try to impart something backwards, as he continues his journey onwards

Copied from http://www.keith-mothersson.co.uk/ about me section:-

Quote:
about me (wrtten for my Strategic Voter site)
We’re none of us special but all unique. I find it helps me to understand other people’s initiatives if they explain where they are coming from. So in the interests of transparency in politics, here’s some more background.

I’m 56 and a proud grand-dad, mostly at a distance. I’ve made lots of mistakes over the years, but fortunately some really good friends as well.

My parents were Christian missionaries, these days I’m a practicing Buddhist with a positive inter-faith orientation.

I studied Sociology and Psychology at Keele University, followed by postgraduate work on the history of the ‘alternative’ socialist traditions at Birmingham University Politics Dept.

I’ve been involved in several social movements over the years, including men’s anti-sexism, Agenda 21 work for sustainable development, and in the peace movement (Institute for Law and Peace and World Court Project).

I think I was a member of the Labour Party Young Socialists for half a term at college, where I was a ‘revolting student’. Since then I haven’t been a member of any political party, and much of that time I’ve been very critical of party politics. I don’t think elections are the be-all and end-all – in fact much of my life I thought voting a waste of time.

But these days I feel overwhelmed by a sense of how we all depend on Society and on Mother Nature, so I hope to use whatever opportunity arises (not excluding voting) to express this gratitude and contribute as best I can - however inadequately - to defending and expressing our 'Motherland' of peaceful civilian life worldwide.

I’m not very high-powered and not very organised. I live remote from centres of political influence. I’ve zero ‘political credibility’ because I will tend to pop in softy stuff like the above paragraph. Basically I’m no threat to anyone, I hope!

You never forget a human spirit and lightworker like Keith. It was a privileged to have met and communicated with him on the couple of occasions I did at national UK 911 truth gatherings.

Keith's 303 posts here are imo a brilliant memorial to Keith for his huge contribution and for us to remind ourselves what a culture of respect and fair play really means:-

KEITH'S FUNERAL

Dear friends

I returned to London yesterday from Keith’s funeral in Perth. It was the most moving event I have ever attended, skilfully planned and executed by Keith’s family with great sensitivity to both the desires of Keith and of his many friends from such disparate backgrounds.

At the service/meeting in Perth, attended by over 100 people, there was some singing and some dancing, but the most moving for me were the eulogies: a prepared eulogy by Keith’s brother Rob followed by spontaneous eulogies by many people, rather in the manner of a Quaker meeting. Lots of tears, lots of hugs, people who hadn’t seen each other for years meeting up, reconciliation between people who had not been on speaking terms.

Refreshments in Perth and then a drive some 20 miles to a woodland cemetery near Crieff. Here we buried him in a Buddhist ceremony, while it rained on us, considered a blessing in eastern and Buddhist tradition. Once the ceremony was over we were bathed in strong sunshine.

I feel so deeply moved by it all. It showed how widely Keith was loved and how it is possible to be a positive influence in so many people’s lives without going for status or money or the trappings of power. Through his love for humanity Keith’s life became a relentless pursuit of peace, justice and truth through non-violent action.

We shall miss you sorely, Keith, but you will remain an inspiration.

Noel

Thanx for the report Noel. Wish I could have made it but sadly like many others I'm controlled/limited by the matrix re: work! I'd like to think though that you represented all of us bona fide truthseekers Noel!

KEITH MOTHERSSON: 8th May 1948 – 4th July 2009 – an appreciation
(published in Peace News p. 11 September, by Colin Archer)

Sometimes in your life you find yourself under the influence of a powerful personality: it could be a lover, a political leader, an author, a spiritual teacher. It happened to me with Keith Mothersson, who has died at the age of 61. Keith combined many of these elements and yet in some ways his life failed to yield the fruits which his talent predicted. Among the brightest minds of his political generation, he distilled much of the counter-cultural zeitgeist of the 1970s into his own brand of radicalism he called ‘alternative socialism’ (the name of his pamphlet and also of a short-lived British activist network). For Keith “there is a labour movement wing and an alternatives wing, but the bird herself is feminism” - an indication of the power that 70s women’s liberation had on a deep-thinking and wide-reading anarchist of the time.

Keith was a ‘son of the manse’ – Scottish missionary parents who left him in a home-house and later a boarding school while in Ghana (the wellspring, he believed, of much later psychological suffering). He was an angry young man at Keele University in the wake of ’68, and wrote critiques of mainstream psychology, the school system and the phenomenon of ‘mal-employment’ as he termed it.

Post-grad research on the Gandhian movement and socialist alternatives with Nigel Young and Geoffrey Ostergaard at Birmingham University was the end of his formal academic career; but he laboured for decades after as a self-styled ‘landless scholar’, with no income beyond the dole and plagued by a serious of intense but mostly unsatisfactory or conflictual romantic relationships.

In the late 1970s, under the spell of Monica Sjöo, the Swedish-born artist and writer who was leading figure in the Goddess-feminist movement, he changed his name from Forrester-Paton to Mothersson. Together they co-wrote a double-booklet ‘Wider We’, and extracts and related writings were published at length in Peace News. Alternative socialism was for a while a subject for intense debate at potlatches/PN readers meetings. So too, was the threat posed by the National Front in the late 70s, which prompted Keith to do some highly creative thinking resulting in a set of PN articles under the title Countering Fascism.

Keith had a big heart as well as a very open mind, and had an extraordinarily holistic vision of social change. The result was that he reached out to, and generated, a wide ‘network of networks’ which in turn meant that his influence touched an unusually wide range of people. He was involved in movements such as Claimants Union, Men against Sexism, local Agenda 21, organic gardening and fruit trees, alternative burials and more.

In the peace movement he was active in CND, but often as a somewhat dissident and frustrated figure. The breakthrough came when he met George Delf, who had developed a powerful perspective on ‘the Bomb and the Law’ (see his book ‘Humanizing Hell’) and this led Keith to extend his theoretical and practical work to applying the core legal concept of non-combatant immunity to the nuclear threat. In the mid-1980s, with the help of Rob Manson and Fred Starkey of Pax Legalis, Angie Zelter (later of Snowball campaign and Trident 365) and others, we together set up the Institute for Law and Peace, which then led on rapidly to the establishment of the British branch of the World Court Project. While the law and war debate continues to inflame the pages of PN even to this day, the primary result of all this effort – combined with that of activists from all over the world – was the celebrated 1996 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice, which broadly speaking outlaws nuclear weapons.

It was a tremendous achievement - though not flawless. But it offered Keith the moment to shift gears and switch issues. He moved from Wales to Scotland and became engaged in many local projects including tactical voting, Scottish politics and environmental issues – in all of which he drew support from a wide local (and national) network. He earned his living from gardening and engaged in a long process of self examination, therapy and engagement with Buddhism, which replaced – or maybe added a new layer to – his involvement with paganism and the mother goddess philosophy.

The 911 attacks and the subsequent warmaking set in motion by the Bush administration confirmed all Keith’s worst fears and understandings regarding the power of the ‘Frat’, as he termed the various male power structures that run the world. And with an enquiring and retentive brain he was a ready participant when the 911 Truth movement (which later spawned the 7/7 Truth movement) got under way. He also helped set up All Faiths Against Terrorism and did a lot to build bridges with the Muslim communities. (Hear 50 min. radio interview, via: www.911forum.org.uk/board/viewtopic.php?p=136168)

It would fair to say that these were the political communities that he engaged with most over the last years of his life. Controversial for some – he lost a few friends along the way and it was a hard direction for his family to accept – but as usual Keith produced documents of some brilliance, if not always the most disciplined...

Keith published many hand-made pamphlets over the years and wrote voluminously, but he only published one proper book: ‘From Hiroshima to the Hague: A Guide to the World Court Project’ which the International Peace Bureau produced for the WCP launch in 1992 (now out of print). A detailed book-length feminist critique of Marxism called Sleep Well Father Marx never found a publisher though it contained many fascinating and ground-breaking insights. (Late last year he told me he was preparing a book on conspiracy theories). He did make use of the internet however, and some of his writing, including biographical elements, is available at www.keith-mothersson.co.uk

However given the breadth of his vision and the depth of his research, these are slim pickings. One suspects that his struggles with his inner demons and with difficult intimate relationships occupied so much mental space that he could not resolve the challenge of adapting his ‘prophetic’ work to professional communities that tended to regard him as a maverick. He lived intensely, was unafraid to experiment and make mistakes. He felt deeply about the inner and the outer changes that are needed for radical change to occur. His legacy is a scattered one: essentially in the hearts and memories of the many people he touched and inspired.

A ‘green burial’ will be held shortly in the Perth area.

Colin Archer - International Peace Bureau, Geneva (in response to my query, Colin did not belive there had been any 'foul play' at KM's death)

Guardian obituary additions

Daphne Francis writes: The denunciation of rogue male elites by Keith Mothersson (Other lives, 6 October) led inexorably on to the tireless work of his last years – the exposing of false-flag terrorism. This occurs when the rulers or government of a country attack their own populations or its infrastructure. The attack is then blamed on a group or country that the perpetrators want to wage war or terror on.
The 9/11 Truth Movement believes that the official account of what happened in New York in 2001 is scientifically impossible on many counts and calls for contrary expert voices to be heard. I was one of Keith's partners of many years, and while I cannot dispute that he had "struggles with his inner demons", I would say that most of this was not to do with an inner pathology, but with his horror at the increasing worldwide web of atrocity.

warm regards

from Daphne
