Is it really surprising that for the first time in decades in Europe there was an assassination attempt against a PM who held a sensible stand on Russia? And not a pro-Russian one, for that matter; just a pragmatist and not a Russophobe.

Of course not. R. Fico, with whom I have been in contact since 2008, stands for the part of the European establishment that has kept touch with reality and does not wish for its citizens to turn into grey radioactive ashes. And surely, he’s got to be the target. In Europe there are very few like him, and now they ought to take good care of their security.
Yes, the assassin is a fierce renegade from among the intellectuals, a certain topsy-turvy version of Gavrilo Princip [who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand triggering WWI].
Yes, he wasn’t fond of Fico, and would write some nonsense.
However, his action stands for the quintessential new Europe, moronically Russophobic, feudatory unbridled, and completely brainless; devoid of any desire to grasp the simplest things; ready to throw its citizens into the furnace of self-serving American politics; the Europe of detestable degenerates with no knowledge of their own history.

Which is why Macron, Sunak, Scholz, and von der Leyen can so far feel safe for their skins.

Now it has turned out that, according to local media, the assassin used to participate in anti-government meetings. He insulted authorities and shouted, "Glory to Ukraine."
