Six arrested in anti-terror raids

Six men have been arrested on suspicion of incitement offences by anti-terror officers from the Metropolitan Police.

They include Abu Izzadeen, also known as Omar Brooks, who made headlines when he heckled Home Secretary John Reid at an event last year.

Five arrests took place in London and the sixth in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Scotland Yard said the arrests related to allegations of inciting others to commit acts of terrorism abroad and fund-raising for terrorists.

'Complex inquiry'

The BBC understands that the arrests are connected to an alleged incident at a mosque in 2004. The men were taken to an unnamed police station in central London.

The BBC understands that among the six arrested is Rajib Khan, a 28-year-old man from Luton.

The other men arrested are a 24-year-old, 35-year-old and 21-year-old, all from parts of East London, and a 27-year-old from Southall in the west of the capital.

Mr Izzadeen, a former electrician, lives in east London and is married with three children.

Scotland Yard added that searches were continuing in connection with the raids.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The arrests form part of a long-term pro-active and complex investigation into alleged incitement and radicalisation for the purposes of terrorism, as well as alleged provision of financial support for international terrorism."

Radical Muslim Abu Izzadeen was one of six men arrested in police anti-terror raids on Tuesday.

Scotland Yard said six men were arrested in connection with inciting others to commit acts of terrorism overseas and terrorist fundraising.

They were held on Tuesday morning by officers from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command and local police at five addresses in London and one in Luton.

The men were being held at an unnamed central London police station.

Scotland Yard said a number of searches were ongoing in connection with the investigation.

A spokesman said: "The arrests form part of a long-term pro-active and complex investigation into alleged incitement and radicalisation for the purposes of terrorism, as well as alleged provision of financial support for international terrorism."

The six men, aged between 21 and 35, were held at addresses in east London, Southall and Luton at around 5am.

Izzadeen, a former electrician who lives in east London with his wife and three children, is perhaps best known for his barracking of Home Secretary John Reid last September.

At a speech to British Muslims in Leyton, east London, Mr Reid was interrupted by Izzadeen, who called him "an enemy of Islam" and "a tyrant", accused the British Government of state terrorism and said Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George Bush could "go to hell".

He was also reportedly involved in protests against the Danish anti-Muslim cartoons and has been linked to radical Islamic group al-Ghurabaa, an offshoot of al-Muhajiroun, both of which are now banned in the UK.

Among those arrested today was Abu Izzadeen.

Abu Izzadeen aka Trevor Brooks aka Omar Brooks is reported to have been a member of Al Ghurabaa which was banned under TACT 2006 in July 2006

Al Ghurabaa and the Saviour Sect are reported to have been formed in the wake of the disbanding of Al-Muhajiroun whose leader was Omar Bakri.

Other members of Al Ghurabaa and Al-Muhajiroun included Umran Javed, Anjeem Choudary and Abdul Rahman Saleem all of whom were involved in the protests in London on 3.2.2006 against the cartoons depicting Muhammad published in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30.9.2005 - the quintessential Hegelian dialectic.

Five arrests were subsequently made on 15.3.2006 which just happens to precede today's arrests by 1 year, 1 month and 9 days.

why does Labour just keep banging the same tune? They are talking up a forthcoming false flag operation, John Reid was on breakfast tv tellling people they have become too complacent.
