David Icke is supportive - this is a great opportunity and will be a unique campaign in the sense it can be won using the internet. We can get to the apathetic, the apparently disinterested, the sceptical and those who feel powerless. We can do a Ron Paul. It could become a virtual reality 'Peasants Revolt', a chance to go to the electronic barricades!

Post by karlos »

During the freedom to protest assembly this afternoon, brian haw (who was peacefully filming events in whitehall) was violently attacked by a territorial support group policeman who lashed out at him, smashing his camera into his face and causing a deep cut. police then arrested brian for an unspecified public order offence and further assaulted him in a police van.

Brian was punched by a policeman while Brian was filming the police on his camcorder. The policeman punched the camcorder while it was close to Brian's face into the side of Brians face which caused the cut.

If you can kill a guy on a tube train with 9 bullets and get away with it what chance has Brian of any redress. Would be helpful to see the incident on the film that Brian took but no doubt it will disappear whilst in custody especially if it shows Mr Plod to be out of order
I once gave police a roll of film which I shot of some guys with a stolen vehicle, film also contained some Xmas family snaps. Took me 2 years and numerous letters to get the piccys back which turned out useless. Lets hope Brian can get it posted on you tube asap unless that might jeopardise his case.

Brainwashed coppers...

Post by spiv »

I hope Brian does get his proper redress here, good luck to him.

I have to say just how sad I feel these days even in my own family. My own son, who's a copper I used to be proud of, and who, until a few months ago, seemed like a very good fairminded copper, is turning into a true 'shaven headed' copper now he's taking his sergeant's exams. So brainwashed is he that he just cannot see anything wrong with the state holding DNA from innocent people, ID cards etc etc, and argues "if you've nothing to hide you've nothing to fear!!". I tell him we've everything to fear, and I regret that his own brainwashed copper mentality bears out that point.

I just wish, hope and actually believe that the criminal politicians, together with the senior police and armed forces officers, who are turning our countries (UK, USA and others) into the fascist states we are moving to, will, one day, stand trial in an international peoples' court on charges of treason, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

My thoughts go out to Brian
I really hope he is ok and not too roughed up by the scum who feel so comfortable in their immunity that they can openly punch someone of Brian's profile in public in broad daylight :x

The entire incident was caught on film and photos were gathered at the scene. A complaint was registered about the TSG (Territorial Support Group) member last night at Belgravia Police Station by 2 members of We Are Change UK - one of them being the primary eyewitness.

Even though Brian was violently assaulted by the TSG officer and arrested while trying to notify his superior officer they strip searched him and kept him in a jail cell until 4am.

Another member of We Are Change UK was arrested shortly after Brian (5pm) and released without charge at 5am this morning.

Well done Gareth and We Are Change.

It's very inportant for witnesses to come forward to support Brian. The police may well not press charges as a high profile case would be such an embarrassment for them. However, Brian could sue the police for assault. The legal firm Birnbergs has a solicitor I know who specialises in suing the police.

Our hearts go out to Brian and our gratitude to the WeAreChange movement.

Does anyone doubt what time it is, now?

Does anyone doubt that it is time to act in defense of freedom, truth and justice?

This police act is clearly intolerable.

All our love and thanks Brian for being such a steadfast example to us all.

Hi Spiv,

Sorry to hear of your son's mindset. Mind you it would be uncomfortable for him, as a policeman, to think any other way.
Try and get him to watch this interview:

He might begin to understand what the ID card agenda is really all about.

Brian Haw beaten up by police - Morning Star
Protester arrested while watching rally for civil liberties
POLICE thugs beat up and arrested Parliament Square peace protester Brian Haw at the weekend merely for watching a protest at Downing Street.
Saturday’s unauthorised sit-down demonstration was part of a national day of action against government proposals to extend police powers to ban protests near Parliament across the country.
The plans are contained within a government “consultation” on the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (SOCPA).
The London demonstration began with an unauthorised rally in direct defiance of the law concerning Trafalgar Square.
Civil liberties protesters then decided to “go for a stroll” around Westminster, protesting at various Whitehall ministries, Parliament Square, MI5 headquarters and New Scotland Yard, before gathering at the gates of Downing Street.
Members of the notoriously violent police territorial support group swiftly moved in to drag away around a dozen protesters who had lain down and linked arms in the road.
Mr Haw was filming the demonstration on his video camera when an officer bashed the camera, forcing it into his face with such force that it cut his cheek.
“He used my camera as a weapon,” Mr Haw recounted yesterday. He attempted to report the incident with the officer in
charge but was instead seized, dragged into the roadway and manhandled into a police van, arrested for being “likely to cause harassment, alarm or
distress.”
Mr Haw cried out: “Police brutality! Police state! Tyranny!” as two burly officers frogmarched him away.
He said that, once inside the van, officers had forced his head down and punched him in the testicles.
Protester Steve Jago tried to push through the police line in an attempt to aid Mr Haw but was himself assaulted, forced to the ground and handcuffed by four officers.
Mr Jago — described by Mr Haw as “a gentle giant” — told the Morning Star that he had been kneed and punched throughout, including two blows to the face as he was pinned to the ground.

The police are clearly using the same old psychological terror tactics to try to frighten people into giving up protesting or fighting for their rights. Lets not let them succeed, we wont be stopped from fighting for our rights. Expect more such terrorising but the best immunity to it is knowing that we have the moral high ground, not them.

We are sliding down a very slippery slope. An example of that was the collapse of the trial of Derek Pasquill, a former employee of the Foreign Office. The state was caught out illegally attempting to recruit Islamic groups and individuals who supported violence (for what means, we do not know!). Derek contacted a newspaper and blew the whistle on the operation, for which he was arrested under the OSA, and thankfully, for lack of evidence, the trial was stopped and charges against Pasquill dropped. What on earth was going on, with the apparent approval of TPTB!.

They don't want him to stand for London Mayor.

After being the subject of the arts prize and his willingness to stand for an elected post the powers that be obviously aren't happy.

I hope they don't now start attacking his family as well.

Sorry guys but after watching the video from what i can see most of the cops behaved in quite a restrained and sometimes polite manner when obviously confronted by some protestors wanting to deliberately spark off trouble to get publicity.

Obviously some of the scuffers bully boys lost their rags

Can someone explain what the guys lying down in the road were doing apart from obstructing it

I am all for the right to protest but they do get hijacked by other not so peaceful elements.
After meeting up in Trafalgar Square it was decided to go for a walk in 'Our streets'.
The streets are not just the protestors streets but every other member of the publics streets who have the right to passage on them without obstruction.

All that said wish Brian Haw speedy recovery and hope they nail Mr Plod who did it.

Government and Police under fire for beating up Brian Haw
Tue, 01/15/2008 - 13:00 - Wire Services

The British government and London's Metropolitan Police came under heavy criticism today for mercilessly beating up Britain's iconic peace protester Brian Haw over the weekend.

In an unprovoked attack by a police officer, Brian was assaulted in the face with his own camera and arrested while observing a demonstration against the ban on unauthorised protest under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA) which was taking place outside Downing Street.

Mr. Haw, who was bleeding from the assault, was then dragged into the police van where he was further assaulted by policeman, according to witnesses.

"I utterly condemn the aggressive mishandling of Brian Haw during Saturday's demonstration, and his subsequent treatment while in the custody of police," Green MEP Caroline Lucas said. "He is a passionate and peaceful campaigner, and a popular hero following his outstanding efforts to publicly oppose the Iraq war."

According to other protesters arrested along with Mr. Haw, the peace protester was once again badly assaulted before being strip searched and charged under the SOCPA.

"This incident provides yet more proof that police actions taken under the terms of SOCPA are putting a stranglehold on civil liberties and threatening the right to gather in peaceful protest," Lucas added. "It is a sad day for this country when the face of modern democracy is frightened and bloodied and peering out of a police van on a Saturday afternoon."

Mr. Haw came into international prominence when he won the Channel 4 Political Personality of the Year Award 2007 by popular vote.

It is estimated that the British authorities have spent almost half a million pounds (million US dollars) trying to evict Mr. Haw from Parliamentary Square, where he has been since 2nd June 2001.

While the government has succeeded in severely restricting his rights to protest by passing laws specifically against thwarting him, courts have ruled that these pieces of legislation cannot be invoked retroactively, and allowed Mr. Haw to continue to protest.

Lucas called on the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who promised to look into the SOCPA, to stop these forms of police brutality immediately and prevent any further human rights abuses before the deadline for consultation ends on January 17th.

You beat me to it; I feel the same after seeing the video. It seems having protested with no response, from the 'layed back' police, some protesters just kept pushing the boundaries. I don't know why anyone lay in the road at all.
Head-on confrontation with the police is a hiding-to-nothing strategy.
That said, I of course condemn the police assaults against Brian and others.
