Readers have been suprisingly silent on this.
Have those people been applying for MI6 careers?

I for one didn't realise the ad was taken from the front page of this very site.

Someone must have paid for it to be there?

Who arranged this? What is "ads by google"?

One of the ads today is to join the debate at "fiction.tv".

Who's idea of a joke is it to allow this?

Ads pay for the site. Please let pragmatism best ideaology and just ignore them like the rest of the rational posters here...

These stupid ads might not be a big deal.....

......but it not a matter of ideology it is a matter of integrity.

I also like to say that I don't appreciate being called 'irrational' for objecting to the fact that MI6 are sponsoring this effing site.

I'm outa here.

Goodbye.

dont ignore the adverts
yes they do pay but only when you click on them
in fact you can recieve 50 pence or even a pound every time someone clicks
so in theory 3000 visitors a month all clicking say 4 adverts every day will mean a very substantial profit for the site

We don't have any choice about who appears in the ads

and they don't have any say over my or others' editorial decisions. Unless you want to pay the hosting charges or come up with a better idea kbo I suggest you may be overreacting.

RTE in Ireland is a good example of a broadcaster who takes ads with no influence on their editorial.

typical nut-job overreaction

google ads take words off pages (i.e off your posts) and pair them to ads. so if you discuss mi6/mi5 on a topic, you;'re likely to get the odd ad for it

its how it works. its computerised... im surprised the webmaster here didnt clear that up... or do you not know that?

on the old illusions forum when we had the ads for a short while we used to get ads for masonic regalia and clothing, john mccain campaign ads and all sorts of crock. thats one of the reasons why we moved to a private server with no ads. it was silly and embarrassingly funny

Can't someone remove the stonehenge from the front banner? Thats what bothers me more.

If anyone can explain to me what they have to do with 911 he or she will win a prize....
