This all sounds sooooo familiar!!
"The conflict between corporations and activists is that of narcolepsy versus remembrance. The corporations have money, power and influence. Our sole influence is public outrage. Extract from "Cloud Atlas (page 125) by David Mitchell.

He said there were three factions pushing for war. What were the other two?

He mentioned the British and the Jewish lobbies. The third was the then current administration, which he claimed was doing the opposite to what it was elected for, which was to stay out of the war. Interestingly that is not appeasement, as it only becomes appeasement when the British try to stay out!!

Was it the smiley face that gave it away? Or can you explain the difference between a Nation (Britain) being reluctant to sacrifice its young men just twenty years after millions died and were maimed in a war, and that of other nations who were also reluctant to go to war. I have only ever heard the term appeasement, and it is clearly meant as derision, being applied to the UK. I have never understood why.

I mentioned this Lindbergh speech to a friend of mine who fancies himself a "Progressive". All I said is that I had listened to what Lindbergh had to say about US involvement in WWII, and my friend immediately quipped "we all know that he was a right leaning Nazi-sympathizer".
